I’m sharing this transitional look with light fabrics today, since it will be a while before we experience Fall weather.
How Can We Incorporate a Transitional Fall Look Without Heavy Fall Fabrics?
Especially in the South, here in North Carolina when we start to get some Fall weather possibly at the end of October or November. September is pretty warm still, so I look for breathable fabrics in Fall colors.
I love the warm toffee, caramel shades for Fall. “Rust” is certainly a part of my Fall and Winter wardrobe. We are now seeing in retailers, Fall collections, as lets’s face it, they show on the runway, a season ahead usually. So, as far as stores are concerned, they are now ready to get rid of their summer merchandise. (Which can mean good deals for you!)
I am wearing a top that is from my closet ages old from Soft Surroundings in a caramel shade. Here is a top in a similiar color. I love the diagonal buttons, and the material is rather light. I just bought this gorgeous rust silk skirt and have it in these colors as well . COLOR1, COLOR2.
The skirt will be a workhorse in your wardrobe, as you pair it in the summer with a tan, a cotton tee, perhaps a light linen camisole. As you enter into Fall, you will be able to wear the skirt with a blazer and tee, with a lighter sweater, with a button down tucked in with a criss-cross hack you will see all over You Tube. I am a big blazer-wearer, so you will see me style this skirt with a blazer. Pair it with tall boots or combat boots for a bit of feminine/masculine vibe. I love the unexpected.
Vests will continue to be popular into Fall, and this skirt paired with a tailored vest and button down, with some loafers or ankle boots would look wonderful. Frankly, I have always loved wearing vests, as they add to your shape, especially if the back of the vest has an adjustable buckle.
Silk skirts are so elegant, and would make a wonderful addition to a classic wardrobe. I have it too, in burgundy and in champagne.
Here, I have made it a more monochromatic look or tonal look with shades of caramel, rust, brown. My sandals are the most worn in my closet- a croc textured pair from Mango a few years ago. Here is a similiar clutch with a different style, but in the croc pattern.
