What’s hot in the jean world right now? Wide leg patch pocket jeans are having their moment.
Hi friends,
I’ve got my “Velcro Pup” Gibson, with me today and I am sharing a new pair (to me- secondhand on Poshmark), as I have been looking high and low for the patch pocket wide leg jeans. I did try the jeans on from Old Navy and found that my normal size 4 were too big in the waist, so what did I do? Scoured Poshmark you say? Yes, I did. I came across these in a lighter wash from what I first bought, a size smaller, ( their wide leg jeans seem to run a size big) so I took a chance. I do recommend asking for measurements, especially inseams if you are concerned about length.
This style, as many of the patch pocket jeans I have researched, has 99% cotton, and 1 % elastane, to feel like a “real jean” but with just enough stretch. I will have to air dry them, as I can’t lose any length. When I do so, I will air dry and then put them in the dryer to soften just a bit for 2 minutes.
Patch Pocket Jeans
With any wide leg jean, it is important to balance out the wide style with a more fitted top, or one that is cropped, as it works well with an xtra high waisted jean. I am long waisted, so the jeans come up a bit past my belly button. So keep this in mind if you are long waisted.
This & Other Stories was also purchased on Poshmark, my go to for secondhand. Since these are just a little shorter in the inseam, I am wearing a kitten heel, but will most likely wear these with flats- either a sneaker or a pointed flat. The pointed flat lengthens the leg line, and the sneakers give it a casual vibe, it already has with the lighter wash.
It’s much to hot to wear jeans now here in NC, but these were bought for that transition into Fall period and later, in November when there is more of a chill in the air.
Loving the little square pockets in the front, they are emulated in the back and the placement makes them perfect. Some of the wide leg trouser styles have a slit pocket, so it depends what you are going for. No matter what, nothing helps my lack of a butt, but I am ok with that!
Ways to Wear
- Wear a cropped top if the jeans are a high-waisted, or in this case extra-high waisted style. There will be no need to tuck in the top, adding extra bulk to the front.
- Style it with a vest and converse or fashion sneakers
- transition into Fall with a pair of cute flats, a blazer and button down
- Wear it casually with a graphic tee, some sneakers and a blazer.
- Dress it up for a night out, with a stylish one shoulder top and some kitten heels
- If the weather is still hot where you live, wear a tank with it and some fun slides. Add some classic gold jewelry.
How I styled It
I chose this striped top by &Other Stories, as it is a cropped top and doesn’t need tucked in. I added cream accessories, like these Zara slingback kitten heels, and my Bottega Vanetta dupe back from Tuckernuck. Here is a similar bag.
