We both ordered the Mediterranean Branzino, which is a Mediterranean Sea Bass. I knew of Chilean Sea Bass, and love that, so I figured lets give it a try. See the menu above for what it came with. So good!
Here is the fish, they leave the tail on and cut off the head. If left on, I would have had to point it away from me. I don’t want it looking at me!
This appetizer sounded like summertime personified! Grilled peaches, tomatoes, pesto with pistachios and dollops of goat cheese. So flavorful!
Although I was stuffed to the gills ( fish pun! ) the waitress brought out a little desert for my birthday. It was a rasberry sorbet topped with fruit.
The Diving Horse Restaurant with Family
Let’s say I ate well on this trip. Vacation is the name, and Seafood is my game! My family and I went out for my birthday, and took me to The Diving Horse. A beautiful upscale restaurant at the corner of our street. My eyes spotting the scallops and that was what I ordered. Yes, they were mouth-watering and scrumptious.
The Diving Horse (thedivinghorseavalon.com) is a seasonal seafood-focused BYOB located at 21st and Dune Drive in Avalon, NJ. We serve an inspired and fresh menu, with ingredients sourced from local farms and day boat fishermen. The name “Diving Horse” pays homage to the horses who used to dive off the Steel Pier in Atlantic City, NJ, in the early to mid-20th century.”
I loved walking the two blocks to the beach and shops just to enjoy looking at the beach homes. The landscaping and styles were beautiful.
After the 4th of July, the beach started to get a bit more less crowded, and we enjoyed our days going in the water, reading, and getting some sun. If there is a body of water, you will find me in it! My inner child certainly comes out!
I hope you enjoyed PART 2 of our Avalon Family vacation.
