The denim maxi skirt is still trending into Fall.
Denim Maxi Skirts
Do you remember the Spring runway where there were “micro mini skirts>”? These “skirts” basically looked like napkins of fabric that barely covered your “bits”.
You will be happy to know denim maxi skirts are hot this year, leading into Fall. A wonderful alternative to jeans, these can be dressed up or down as well. As I saw the multitude of blue denim maxis, I loved the ecru denim maxi skirt as a change. Not a stark white, this warm toned skirt would look lovely with neutrals or any other color for that matter.
There are many styles and cuts out now, looking at paneling, styles with spit hems in the front or back, straight or flared.
I remember having many through the years, one that sticks in my mind is one with a trumpet skirt style, or a flared bottom.
A staple in the closet, the denim skirt will be able to be worn every season. Chucky sweaters, cropped sweaters with a high rise skirt, more fitted blazers with tees and sneakers. Wear them with a tall boot, and silk blouse. There are so many ways to style this skirt.
I am getting flashbacks to the 90’s with these skirts, although the color and cut are a bit different. The recommendation I have read about is sizing with the denim maxi. I am wearing my true size 4 here, which is a higher waisted cut. If you were to want a lower rise and for it to hit lower on your hip, you may want to size up, in addition as it is 100% cotton, so no stretch. I am 5 foot 9, and love the longer maxi length. If you are shorter and you aren’t sure a long straight maxi could work for you, try a flared cut.
If you are interested in other shades, this same cut comes in blue and black.
Denim maxis are on the runway this year, according to Vogue,
“The best hemlines seen at the spring 2023 collections were those that traced the floor, therefore elongating the body.”
I love the slit in the front, or back of the maxi and its ecru color. The neutral colors here are soft and perfect for Fall. I kept it warm with the camel colored Teddy Blake Bag, and these new Nisolo tan bootie. My jewelry is kept gold to keep the warm look as well.
This versatile piece will be a workhorse in your wardrobe, either dressing it up or down. You will be reaching for it, no matter the season!
