I’m sharing different ways to style a sweater dress today, with today’s example being with color.
Wearing a Sweater Dress
I’ve been on a neutral kick lately, but there are so many great colors for Fall to wear and style together.
This lovely green sweater dress paired wonderfully with my teal Mango coat. Want some brightness to a grey Fall-Winter Day, pair a sweaer dress with a brightly colored jacket, or in this case, jewel toned.
We went to this bridge for photos and you can see it was a bit sunny this day, but relatively chilly as I did wear my winter coat.
I love how classy a sweater dress looks, while it keeps you warm, and depending on the weight of the fabric, it’s a great layering piece.
How to Style a Sweater Dress
As they say, “It’s not my first rodeo”! ( someone says it!) and I have worn sweater dresses for a long time. I saw this beautiful green shade on Mango Outlet last year, so it is no longer there, but I can “rustle up” a similiar one for you.
I knew the pairing with these richly colored green would work well with this teal jewel toned coat.
How else might I style this dress?
- Wear it with a trending menswear structured vest over top giving even more shape to the dress.
- Style it with fashion sneakers and a denim jacket or quilted vest.
- Add a blazer over the dress and tall boots.
- If it is a thinner sweater dress, add a textured vest over top, remember how big they were two years ago and last year?
- A faux fur coat in a bright contrasting color would be a fun option. I could see this with hot pink.
- Wear it with booties and some textured tights to bring in even more texture to the look.
- Replace the fabric belt with a leather or obi belt for waist definition
- Give it some edge with a moto jacket
I do love midi length Fall and Winter dresses with longer or tall boots to continue the leg line. I am wearing a pair of black leather Tory Burch boots that are years old.
