Hi friends,
Boy, May is moving along quickly and with the start of summer around the bend, I am sharing a print you think of as summertime, that is gingham. It is a lilac color, so what to pair it with?
Lilac
Lilac certainly blends easily with many skin tones, and in this gingham pattern adds a fresh take on the color. I have several blouses in this shade, and one of my favorite colors to pair it with is olive. ( or really any green) A Kelly green would work as well, as lilac is soft and the Kelly green more bold, but not overwhelming.
I think of Spring and all of the beautiful flowers, often times when pairing greens. Mother Nature knows what she’s doing does she not?
If my Lilac Dahlias make it ( I think Aphids are chewing on my leaves) the beauty of the two colors together is just stunning. Since gingham is one of thos summer patterns, and most often in red, blue and black, you could certainly mix it up here.
Last year I bought some linen pants from J Crew factory, with an elasticized waist, and thinner pant leg, I rather liked the casual vibe. They are a bit lighter than the ones I am wearing here and forgot about. They are an XS in the Lou and Grey line. The only thing I can recommend, even if you also wear an XS in Loft, is to be happy with the length. I might have gone with a small and a bit slouchier, just to have the length. Hey, retailers, there are those of us that are tall too.
Enough about that. I bought these slide sandals in lilac last year at Target, and they are cushioned enough that I am quite happy with them. The Zara bag finishes the look, with a bit of a play on a picnic basket, just a tiny bit smaller.
What Other Colors Go with Lilac or Lavendar
BLues and whites, reds and pinks, and as mentioned greens go very well with lilac. If you are unsure, start of small. I love neckscarves and feel a bit “fancy” when I wear them. I think it is funny to get complimented at the grocery store! Perhaps it is because we have become a beyond casual nation where I see more leggings and tee shirts than anything. ( Not that there something wrong with that if that is your thing or if you come from the gym). i do like to take a lesson from the Italians, when we visited Italy, and that is unless you are going to the gym, or are in your house, lounge/gym wear/pajamas should remain there. Don’t get me started on seeing pjs out and about!
So after that tangent, there are many colors that go well with lilac. I think a striking mix is a burnt orange or bright orange, a lovely contrast.
