Keeping cool and comfortable is a priority for me if I want a good night’s sleep.
What are the ways I make my bedroom a place that is tranquil and that I look forward to going each night?
A Quiet space. This means, no electronics. Ok, the tv is ok, once we watch one or two shows, but beyond that, I need silence and darkness to sleep. I have always been one that can’t sleep with the tv on. This is the time to put IG down, no more phone, and computer. So, watch Handmaids Tale before you get too tired.
No caffeine before bed. I drink my coffee in the morning. Before bed, if I want a little help sleeping, a cup of chamomile tea is always lovely before bed. Just don’t drink too much, as this girl gets up 3 times a night to pee! So, one cup if you want a light drink before bed to calm down the day.
Aromatherapy- I love diffusers and the smells that come from essential oils, and I love lavender. I have lavender bath salts, bubble bath, and aromatherapy oil. I also love orange and lemongrass. Your bedroom can appeal to the senses. A pretty scent is also a way to relax. This diffuser from Soft Surroundings is a lovely addition to the bedroom. Love this calming blend of essential oils for “relaxation”. I also love this Good Night essential oils blend, which contains lavender, promoting a sleep-producing scent
Create an inviting space. Your wall decor, lighting, bedding, and curtains should all be an example of the relaxing style. Patterns that are soft to the eye, soft colors and low lighting are great for a tranquil environment. We have HUE lights and tell Alexa to turn off the lights, can turn each separate light to 10%, or completely turn it off. Like a “glorified clapper”. ?? I also love fresh flowers as they are so pretty to look at, smell beautiful and can later be turned into dried flower designs.
Comfortable, cool nightgowns and nightwear make for an easier night’s sleep. Who wants to sweat? Soft Surroundings has some wonderful nightgowns I love the moisture wicking properties of this nightgown. I love the softness of this nightgown
Keep out the clutter. It’s important to have a peaceful place to rest your head, so clear away the clutter in the bedroom. That may mean recycling old magazines, putting clothes in the laundry, picking up the dog toys. I am much happier when my bedroom looks lived in, yet clean.
It really should be your sanctuary, somewhere you find peacefulness and can rest easy.
